Was reading in 2 Chronicles 32, and was soooo encouraged about how King Hezekiah encouraged his people when the Assyrians came against. Here's the two verses that really stood out to me:
"Be strong and courageous, be not afraid nor dismayed for the king of Assyria, nor for all the multitude that is with him: for there be more with us than with him: With him is an arm of flesh; but with us is the LORD our God to help us, and to fight our battles. And the people rested themselves upon the words of Hezekiah king of Judah." 2 Chron. 32:7-8
You may feel like all the multitude of evil has come against you, but remember, if God be for us, who can be against us. Let's keep our eyes on Him, no matter what the enemy says against us!
You want to see how this story ended?? Read 2 Chron. 32:9-23! It is AMAZING!!!!!
Review:
- Bible Thought: There are ALWAYS more with us than with the powers of darkness that come against us!
- Blessing: So thankful for these stories God has given us, to encourage our faith!
- Battles: Let's not be distracted by whatever King Sennacherib "or those in this world" try to say against us. God is in control!
The story of Jehosaphat in 2 Chron 20 is always one I liked in conjunction with Hezekiah story. Not only did he encourage the people, he sent out a choir in front of the army. How often do we think of sending praises first during a trial because we know the victory is ours in God's strength?
ReplyDeleteAnother one was the prophet Elisha in 2 Kings 6 when the Syrians came to Dothan and his servant said alas we are surrounded. See verse 2 Kings 6:16 in particular. :-)
