Keep Asking…

Was looking at Matthew 7:7, Luke 11:9, John 14-16, and I think it's interesting that every time, the word "ask" comes from the Greek word, aiteō which means: to beg, crave, desire, keep asking.

In the chapters of John 14-16, seven times we see the command "to ask." (If you abide in Me ASK ANYTHING  in my name that you may bear fruit, bring glory to the Father, and that your joy may be full!  ASK, ASK, ASK, ASK, ASK, ASK, ASK!! (John 14:13,14; 15:7,16; 16:23,24,26)

It's obvious that as Christ walked the road to Calvary, He seemed to think this was very important to impress upon His disciples! Maybe because He knew they would get discouraged and stop asking when circumstances seemed difficult.

Consider the story of Elijah and how his persistence brought the answers that He was seeking!

“The servant watched while Elijah prayed. Six times he returned from the watch, saying, There is nothing, no cloud, no sign of rain. But the prophet did not give up in discouragement. He kept reviewing his life, to see where he had failed to honor God, he confessed his sins, and thus continued to afflict his soul before God, while watching for a token that his prayer was answered. As he searched his heart, he seemed to be less and less, both in his own estimation and in the sight of God. It seemed to him that he was nothing, and that God was everything; and when he reached the point of renouncing self, while he clung to the Saviour as his only strength and righteousness, the answer came.” RH, May 26, 1891 par. 8

Let us keep asking, even if we do not immediately receive. The answer will come!! Hold on!
