This morning I was reading in Psalm 44. It says:
"We have heard with our ears, O God, our
fathers have told us, what work thou didst in their days, in the times of old.
How thou didst drive out the heathen with thy hand, and plantedst them; how
thou didst afflict the people, and cast them out. For they got not the land in
possession by their own sword, neither did their own arm save them: but thy
right hand, and thine arm, and the light of thy countenance, because thou hadst
favor unto them." Ps. 44:1-3
A few verses further down in the chapter we find another
verse, "Awake, why sleepiest thou, O Lord? Arise, cast us not off
forever." vs 23
While written several thousand years ago, these
passages aren't too far off the mark, are they? In fact, they sound about like
we talk today.
"God, I've heard about the great things you've
done in the past. I've heard how you worked in days gone by. But what about
today? It seems like you are sleeping today. What is wrong?"
The reality is that God has not changed… He is
still the same, yesterday, today and forever. The ones who have changed is His people. We
have changed…Maybe we don't see Him work as we should because we don't trust
and obey Him as we should. Maybe we don't see Him work as He could because we
don't have faith as we could…
