Day 245 - Make a Joyful Noise unto the Lord!

Today's Reading: Song 7-8 and Psalms 99-101

Today we finish the short but inspiring book of Song of Solomon.

"Many waters cannot quench love neither can the floods drown it."

Is this the kind of love we have for Christ? Let's pray that God would give us a heart of love that cannot be drowned by floods of difficulty or waters of discouragement or trial...

Today I want to focus on my reading in Psalms, which I really enjoyed. "Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all ye lands. Serve the Lord with gladness: come before his presence with singing." (Ps. 100:1-2)

As those that follow this blog have seen, I love reading the thoughts from Inspiration along with the Bible. It just adds such depth and perspective and relevance. So today, regarding music and worship, Ellen White writes the following inspiring thoughts:
"Music forms a part of God’s worship in the courts above, and we should endeavor, in our songs of praise, to approach as nearly as possible to the harmony of the heavenly choirs. The proper training of the voice is an important feature in education and should not be neglected. Singing, as a part of religious service, is as much an act of worship as is prayer. The heart must feel the spirit of the song to give it right expression." (Patriarchs and Prophets, p. 594)
Did you catch that? Singing is as much an act of worship as is prayer. Maybe that's one reason why I like to sing when I have my worship time. It's really beautiful especially to sing Scripture songs that reflect the Lord's majesty and beauty...

Here's another beautiful verse. Ps. 100:4, "Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name."
"True reverence for God is inspired by a sense of His infinite greatness and a realization of His presence. With this sense of the Unseen the heart of every child should be deeply impressed. The hour and place of prayer and the services of public worship the child should be taught to regard as sacred because God is there. And as reverence is manifested in attitude and demeanor, the feeling that inspires it will be deepened." (Education, p. 242)
Let us ask that God grow in us a deep reverence for the beauty of His holiness. Let's ask that we come to truly value the sacred time of worship... for He is there!

Tomorrow's Reading: Isa. 1-2 and 1 Tim. 6
