Praising God

"He is your praise and He is your God, who has done these great and awesome things for you which your eyes have seen." Deuteronomy 10:21

I heard a wonderful testimony of a young lady who dedicated her life to the Lord through baptism today.  She said she once told God how to run her life:  "Lord, I need your help with being patient today."  "God, I need you to bless me today."  "God this person needs you, you need to get his attention."  Then she "heard" the Lord spoke to her one day...  She realized her relationship with God was entirely on herself, basically leaving God out of the equation.  She didn't like that.  She wanted to have a genuine, close relationship with God.

She started praising Him.  Her prayers became God-centered and self started to disappear.

"If the loving-kindness of God called forth from our hearts more thanksgiving and praise, we should have far more power in prayer. We should abound more and more in the love of God, and have more bestowed to praise him for. You who complain that God does not hear your prayers, change the present order, and mingle praise with your petitions. When you consider his goodness and mercies, you will find that he will consider your wants."[I]
