The Sky is NOT the Limit!

This weekend, while you are reading this post, I have the distinct privilege of helping lead a "Teen Prayer Conference" for about 175 kids here in Arkansas. I'm not sure what God has in store for this weekend, but I know it is something special. And we are praying in advance that many lives will be changed and many decisions made for eternity. (Please pray with me for this!)

As I reflect on the energy and enthusiasm of teens, I wonder what God could do IF these young people would really go all out for God. For that matter, what could He do, if we--all of us--were willing to go all out for God?

Does the sky limit the possibilities??

As humans, we are limited by the laws of nature. For example, we cannot expect to jump off a building and fly. The “law of gravity” will bring us quickly to the ground. So it’s true in a sense, that we are in a box. But just because we are in a box, that doesn’t mean that we need to bring God into the box with us! Just because we are limited by these natural laws doesn’t mean that God is limited as well. God is not limited! He can create circumstances, just as easily as He can change circumstances. He can create the wind, just as easily as He can calm the wind.

“With God, there is no big or small, easy or difficult, possible or impossible. This is difficult to comprehend because all we’ve ever known are the four dimensions we were born into, but God is not subject to the natural laws He instituted. He has no beginning and no end. To the infinite, all finites are equal. Even our hardest prayers are easy for the Omnipotent One to answer because there is no degree of difficulty.”[i]

So rather than setting our goals and prayers according to our human limitations and abilities, let us begin to set goals and pray according to God’s abilities. The Bible tells us, “Ah Lord God! Behold, thou hast made the heaven and the earth by thy great power and stretched out arm, and there is nothing too hard for thee” (Jer. 32:17).

If we truly realized how big our God is, we would have a lot more faith to move forward in His work. Inspiration again encourages us, “Workers for Christ are never to think, much less to speak, of failure in their work. The Lord Jesus is our efficiency in all things; His Spirit is to be our inspiration; and as we place ourselves in His hands, to be channels of light, our means of doing good will never be exhausted. We may draw upon His fullness and receive of that grace which has no limit.”[ii]
