When the enemy bites us…

This past week my mom got bit by a black widow spider. These creatures may be small, but they are scary!

We've been using charcoal non-stop, and I think the poison has been kept at bay, but it's been pretty miserable ordeal for my mom. (Please say a prayer for her if you don't mind because the worst of it is not over. Although the swelling is going down, she's still in a LOT of pain!)

Anyway, as I've been thinking about this ordeal, it's reminded me of how the devil poisons our lives. He may not inject much poison, but if just a little bit gets in, if we don't treat it with the WORD, it begins to grow and spread and become worse and worse until our whole body is full of poison.

The WORD is a great antidote though, to any problems we face, whether pain, bitterness, jealousy, or any thing else that the devil uses to torment us and try to infect our lives. If we will turn to the WORD, there is healing.

The Bible says, "Praise ye the LORD: for it is good to sing praises unto our God; for it is pleasant; and praise is comely. The LORD doth build up Jerusalem: he gathereth together the outcasts of Israel. He health the broken in heart, and bindeth up their wounds." Ps. 147:1-3

Notice that "praise" is part of the healing. When we praise the Lord, as it says in Prov. 17:17, it does good like a medicine.

So don't let the spider of the enemy bite you, but if he does, remember there is healing today. It's found in God's Word!
