Jesus called Judas too!!

"And Jesus, walking by the sea of Galilee, saw two brethren, Simon called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea: for they were fishers. And he saith unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men." Matt. 4:18,19

It's not easy to walk away from security. It's not easy to walk away from our normal routine…yet that's just what Jesus disciples did when they followed Christ. And it often is what we are called to do today as well.

I think it's interesting that when Jesus called the disciples, many of them were very involved and currently prosperous in their work. And yet they dropped all and followed Christ. Something about Christ drew them, and they suddenly found (probably to the great consternation of their friends and family) that nothing else mattered anymore except for following Christ. I think it's also powerful to note that Christ called Judas as well, even though He knew that Judas would betray Him. It's a powerful reminder to me that even though there may be tares (or those that work iniquity) among us, Jesus is long suffering and patient with them right to the end. And so should we be!

Listen to what the book Ministry of Healing says about this topic:

"In His mercy and long-suffering, God bears patiently with the perverse and even the false hearted. Among Christ’s chosen apostles was Judas the traitor. Should it then be a cause of surprise or discouragement that there are falsehearted ones among His workers today? If He who reads the heart could bear with him who He knew was to be His betrayer, with what patience should we bear with those at fault." Ministry of Healing, p. 493

Review:
  • Bible Thought: Jesus called Judas too!
  • Blessing: God has provided once again, and answered some specific prayers. I just praise Him!
  • Battles: That I not judge the tares ahead of God. My job is to do what God has asked me to do. Who knows, God could yet save our modern day "Judas" and that's what we need to pray for!
